Casa Vila Nova, owned by the Lancastra family, is a descendant of the Portuguese royal family. In the late 1970s, the family planted over 48 hectares of vines, mostly local Portuguese varieties often used in green wines such as Loureiro, Arinto and Avesso. In 2008, Bernardo Lancastre, together with his brothers, took over the property, revitalized the vineyards and began making verde wine under the name of the family house, Casa de Vila Nova. They are working hard to make Vila Nova the place of excellence it is today.
